Adam,
Apparently there was a typo in the address. The correct address was 643 W. 31st St. Sorry about that. We're moving the website to a new system starting in March which will hopefully prevent problems like that, because each venue will remain in a database and won't have to be re-entered for each event, hopefully minimizing the possibility of a typo in the address, or at least preventing the problem from being repeated when an error is found. Our policies for submitting shows will also be changing with the new site. We're working on the specifics right now, hoping to have the new site up and running by March.

It is Saturday, February 18th 2012. Tonight there was supposed to be a fundraiser at a place called, "The Orphanage" and the supposed address was 634 W. 31st St. in Chicago. I was looking forward to a night of really great punk rock music. Two of my favorite bands, Eske and La Armada were allegedly supposed to be on the bill! The fact of the matter is THERE IS NO SUCH ADDRESS AS 634 W. 31st STREET! I went on a web site and told people to show up for this concert! I feel I was sent on a wild goose chase! I was really looking forward to this show! Needless to say I am FURIOUS about this! I don't know if the people at DIYCHI.ORG take the time to verify weather or not these venues exist or not, but I have better things to do with my time than chase down non existent concerts at non existent venues, ESPECIALLY when no contact information is provided! This is NOT the first time this has happened. Two years ago, I wanted to see a concert at a place calling itself, "The Lucky Gator Loft" only to find out the address given didn't exist either! (And it was in a rather dicey neighborhood, and I almost got jumped by a member of the local chapter of The Latin Kings!) People putting on shows NEED to provide an EXACT address, and be responsible for UPDATING information as the day of the show draws closer, I.E. cancellations, change of venue, price of admission, weather the shows are all ages or over 21, etc. I am NOT on Face Book or My Space, so I DEPEND on DIYCHI.ORG to inform me of upcoming independent shows that I might enjoy, or be interested in attending! Perhaps you should set up rules to require people who are putting on shows to provide a phone number, or at the very least, an e-mail address that people can contact for EXACT location, and information updates!
